Energy
Energy
Energy is the daily stamina that meters your ranked rewards. It is not a wall: when your tank is empty you can still queue and play ranked matches, they simply count for rating only and pay no reward. This page covers the daily allowance, what each match costs, and what happens when you run dry.
What energy is
Energy is a reward throttle, not a play gate. It exists so that ranked rewards are earned at a steady daily pace rather than farmed in one long session. Spending energy makes a ranked match reward-eligible; running out of energy never stops you from playing, it only stops that match from paying out. Unranked and custom matches are always free and never touch your energy at all.
The daily allowance
New accounts start with a full tank of 100 energy. Each day at midnight UTC you receive a daily allowance of 20 energy, which banks up toward the 100 cap. There is no continuous trickle: energy is a once-per-day grant, not a per-minute refill, so it accumulates while you are away and tops you back up to the cap over time.
Spending energy
Each ranked match costs 1 energy, charged when the match is created. That is the only thing that spends energy. Because the cost is taken at match creation, a single ranked match draws exactly one point from your tank, and a full tank of 100 covers a long run of ranked play before the daily top-up matters.
Playing with an empty tank
When your energy reaches zero you keep playing ranked. Matches still queue, still resolve, and still move your rating up and down the ladder. The only difference is that a zero-energy match earns no SGC reward: it is rating-only play. You climb (or fall) exactly as you would with a full tank, you just do not collect the per-win reward until your allowance refills. The Play screen shows your current energy and, when empty, a countdown to the next daily reset alongside a rating-only notice.
