Patch 0.49.0: Open Channels

“New channels open, dead rules cleared.”

Short answer

Patch 0.49.0 opens new channels and clears out dead rules. Matches no longer roll two rulesets that cancel each other out, the Blog menu keeps articles and patch notes apart, and Stellarch now has a home on four more platforms. No Fighter, commander or mana cost changed.

New

Find us on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Threads

Stellarch now has official accounts on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Threads, all under the handle stellarch_io. The footer on every page links to them, next to Discord, PeakD and X.

Patch notes now land on X and Threads

Every new blog post and every release now gets its own post on X (@stellarch_tcg) and Threads (@stellarch_io), with a link straight to the full page. Follow either account to see new patches the moment they go out. This patch is the first one to travel that way.

Improved

The Blog menu separates articles from patch notes

The Blog menu in the top bar used to show one mixed list, so a run of releases could push the articles out of sight. It now shows the three latest posts and the two latest changelogs as separate sections, with a View all link to the full blog.

Fixed

Rulesets that cancel each other out no longer roll together

A match could roll two rulesets where one made the other meaningless, so you read a rule that did nothing. We went through the whole ruleset list and blocked 45 of those pairs, on top of the 41 already blocked. Custom games refuse the same pairs.

Three examples of what is gone:

  • Mercenaries Only + Open Alliance. Neutral Fighters are legal under every commander anyway, so Open Alliance changed nothing.
  • Targeting Lock + Feedback Surge. Feedback Surge punishes a miss, and under Targeting Lock nothing misses.
  • Fireteam + Strike Squad. A team cap of 4 and a team cap of 5 in the same match: the cap of 4 always wins.

Thanks to the player who reported the Mercenaries Only plus Open Alliance match that started this.

Eight more changes shipped under the hood: tidier test environments, safer account housekeeping, and new tools that help our team make and share Stellarch videos. Thanks for playing the alpha and for sending us the odd matches you find.

Frequently asked

What changed in Patch 0.49.0?

Matches no longer roll two rulesets that cancel each other out: 45 more pairs are blocked. The Blog menu now shows articles and patch notes as separate sections. The footer links to new official accounts on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Threads, and release notes are now posted on X and Threads.

Are there any card or balance changes in Patch 0.49.0?

No. Every Fighter and commander keeps the same stats, abilities and mana cost as in Patch 0.48.1. The ruleset change only removes rule pairs where one rule did nothing.

Which ruleset pairs can no longer appear together?

Pairs where one rule makes the other pointless. Examples: Mercenaries Only with Open Alliance, Targeting Lock with Feedback Surge, and Fireteam with Strike Squad. Custom games refuse the same pairs.
